Videx Announces the High-Security CyberLock®

A Lock that Reports Who, What, Where, and When!

CORVALLIS, OREGON, — Videx announces CyberLock®, a fast-growing family of access control products. CyberLock is an intelligent lock cylinder designed to convert existing mechanical locks into full-functioning access control systems, without hardwiring. CyberLock permits access for authorized users at specific times on pre-selected days, and provides a comprehensive audit report of all entries.

The CyberLock system consists of the pick-proof CyberLock cylinder, and the CyberKey® that cannot be duplicated. Each cylinder contains a microprocessor and memory and is designed to the exact dimensional standards of mechanical cylinders, making conversion easy in the field. CyberLock cylinders fit in tubular knob sets, lever locks, rim locks, and mortise locks in doors; as well as locks in cabinets, vending machines, cash drawers, transit fare boxes, and in padlocks. Since the CyberLock cylinder contains no battery, it is ideal for indoor and outdoor applications, even in the harshest environments.

The access privileges and battery power are located in the CyberKey. Each time a CyberKey opens a CyberLock, a record of the user ID, date, and time is stored in both the key and the cylinder, creating a lock history and a key history. A CyberKey records up to 3900 events and the CyberLock cylinder records the last 1100 events. The CyberKey can be programmed to allow users to open the locks on specific days, and only during specified times on those days. In addition, the CyberKey can be set with a date to begin operation, as well as an expiration date.

Since there are no batteries in these cylinders and no wires to install, CyberLock can go virtually anywhere _ from padlocks securing transported freight, gated areas, stored chemicals, or expensive equipment at remote sites to cabinet doors containing network servers and critical data processing equipment to doorways throughout schools and business complexes.
