OABA Honors Bill Alter
Lunch with a Legend

Orlando, FL,  - William (Bill) Alter, Senior Vice President of Sales with National Ticket Company since 1958 has been named as the Outdoor Amusement Business Association's annual Lunch with a Legend honored guest.

Other past Lunch with a Legend honorees have been Ron Burback, owner of Funtastic Shows; Bernard Thomas, retired founder of Thomas Shows; E. James Strates, owner of Strates Shows; and Tom Powell, senior editor with Amusement Business. This luncheon event, held during the IAAPA convention and trade show, serves as fundraiser for the OABA - Duke Smith Memorial Education Fund.

Bill Alter will retire from National Ticket Company (NTC) in June of 2006, after spending over 45 years of service in their sales organization. Bill was hired in the late 1950s by then president of NTC, William Conway at their plant in Shamokin, PA. After going through early years of cross training in different positions, Alter settled in the sales department.

Alter moved to New York City in 1967 and spent the last 40 plus years traveling worldwide from his office on Broadway for over twenty years and now from his office in New Jersey. He was named a Vice President of National Ticket Company in 1971 and Senior Vice President in 2003.

He has opened many markets for National Ticket, including professional sports, horse racing, family fun centers and his special love the outdoor amusement business, including theme parks and traveling shows. Bill has also concentrated on opening the international side of NTC's business.

Alter has sat on the IAAPA board of directors and was the first chairperson of the Manufacturers and Suppliers Committee. He is the chairperson on the Trade Show Space Allocation Committee and also sits on the Convention Oversight and Strategic Planning Committees.

He is a Charter Board of Governor of the Applause Committee that selects the top nominated amusement park worldwide, for their Applause Award every two years.

Alter is a long time member of the Showmen's League of America and has attended every trade show that they and the OABA has ever been associated with for over 40 years.

Alter is married to Jane Anne and they have three grown children. His son, daughter-in-law and only grandchild live in San Francisco. One daughter lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts and his other daughter and her husband live in Hoboken, New Jersey.

OABA's Lunch with a Legend, which started in 2001, will be held during the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) convention and trade show in Atlanta, on Wednesday, November 16, at Noon. A twenty-dollar ($20.00) per person ticket donation is required. As reservations are limited for this prestigious event, please contact the OABA office at 407-681-9444 to reserve tickets.
