NEXT STOP BCA
Nearly 300 companies in 1,400 booths feature billiard and game tables, cues and cue accessories, cloth, balls, apparel, furniture, spas, bowling, darts, foosball, art, home furnishings, novelty items, outdoor living, books, publications, video games, coin-op, pinball, CD jukeboxes, gaming and much more!
The BCA's 21st Annual International Billiard & Home Recreation Expo posted strong early numbers of pre-registered buyers and sellers in Las Vegas last week. Prior to the official ribbon-cutting, 2,253 early registrants had exceeded the previous year's confirmed buyers by 8%. Numbers tracked steadily over the three days to end at 2,725 on Saturday afternoon. Among exhibitors, a 13% jump (from 275 to 310) set another record and included 85 first-time exhibitors. The new participants made up 28% of the total, and 1281 booths were reserved at the Las Vegas Convention Center for the run of the show.
The coin-op industry was well represented by the AAMA pavilion. This year, seven member companies occupied 1000 square feet of booth space, to show the consumer market what they had to offer. Member companies that joined the AAMA this year were, AMOA, Brady Distributing, Incredible Technologies, Namco America, Rock-Ola, Sega and Stern Pinball.
Although this is AAMA's second year participating in the International Billiard & Home Recreation Expo, the attendance seemed light in comparison to 2004. Those members who also exhibited in 2004 expressed the same concern. However, several leads were acquired by each member including the AAMA. The association walked away with 60 leads from the show. Once again, the AAMA is in the process of e-mailing these leads to the entire membership. Should you not receive these leads by early next week, please contact Christy Maes at 847.290.9088 or via e-mail at cmaes@coin-op.org.
With the highly debatable issue of the show moving from a summer time slot to the spring, it seems as though the BCA has decided to keep its spring schedule through 2009. Dates and venues have already been announced, and they are.
April 6-8, 2006 in Houston April 12-14, 2007 in Las Vegas April 24-26, 2008 in New Orleans April 2-4, 2009 in Las Vegas
The AAMA will more than likely continue to keep the expo on our location trade show calendar.
