1st Annual ASI-IFPA Pinball Championship To Be Held During 2007 Amusement Showcase International

It is just one more attraction at what promises to be one of the best and most exciting ASI shows ever.


Orland Park, IL... Who will be crowned the world's and the industry's best pinball players in 2007? Seeing is believing at the 1st Annual ASI-IFPA Pinball Championship where the competition and the coronation for pinball's most prestigious titles take place March 28-30, 2007 at the Las Vegas Convention Center during the Amusement Showcase International.

AAMA President, Mike Rudowicz commented, "We are delighted that Roger Sharpe, Josh Sharpe and Steve Epstein of the IFPA selected ASI as the venue for the 1st Annual ASI-IFPA Pinball Championship. It is just one more attraction at what promises to be one of the best and most exciting ASI shows ever."

Endorsed by the International Flipper Pinball Association, the 1st Annual ASI-IFPA Pinball Championship is a two-tiered competition featuring an Industry Challenge and an Open Division where everyone will have the chance to show off their flipper skills. The winner of the Industry Challenge will receive an award proclaiming them as the Industry Pinball Wizard 2007. The Open Division will attract pinball enthusiasts from around the world who will compete for cash prizes, award recognition and World Pinball Player Rankings (WPPR) points.
Qualifying rounds for the Industry Challenge and the Open Division will take place Wednesday, March 28 and Thursday, March 29 from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm on the show floor. Players in both divisions will compete on selected machines from five different eras-- the '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s and '00s . Machines will be provided by Tim Arnold and his Las Vegas-based Pinball Hall of Fame and by Gary Stern of Stern Pinball.

The cost to enter the qualifying rounds for both the Industry Challenge and the Open Division is $10 for three games. Players in both divisions can enter multiple times. A portion of all proceeds will go to benefit the AAMA Charitable Foundation, as well as the Las Vegas Salvation Army.

Finals for the Industry Challenge will feature the top 7 scorers on Thursday, March 29 at 4:00 pm as one of the highlight's of ASI's all-new "ASI Big Bar Happy Hour" on the show floor. The 2007 Industry Pinball Wizard Champion will be crowned during the “ASI Big Bar-Happy Hour on the Showfloor” on Thursday evening.

Finals for the Open Division will also feature the top 7 scorers in this division, on Friday, March 30, from 10:00 am - 12:00 Noon. The crowning of the Open Division Champion will be at 12:00 Noon Friday.

Players in the Industry Challenge and the Open Division are encouraged to pre-register on the ASI website at http://www.asi-show.com. Players in the Open Division who pre-register will receive a badge of admission allowing them access to the exhibit floor at the Amusement Showcase International. A tournament pre-registration form can be downloaded from the ASI website.
