AmEx Irish Market Gears Up For AmEx 2007!

The free admission and free seminar programme that made AmEx 2006 a success will continue in 2007.

Recent developments in Ireland indicate that in addition to exhibitors and visitors from the amusement and gaming sectors, there will also be considerable interest in AmEx 2007 from those involved in the casino, betting and online gaming sectors.

The Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2006, which includes provisions designed to increase the legal limits on stake and prize money (to EUR 0.50 and EUR 30) in gaming machines (AWPs) is at the Committee Stage in the Dáil (Parliament).

The Casino Committee is expected to report to the Minister For Justice in the near future; it is expected that Betting Shops will start trials of FOBTs - Fixed Odds Betting Terminals soon and online gaming seems set to become part of the overall picture as at least one of the big players in the sector looks set to locate its European base in Ireland.
