AMOA Amusement & Music Operators Association

Introduce the Coin-op Concept to the General Population and Increase its' COOL Factor

Next episode will be shown Monday, June 5th

During the last AMOA/AAMA Joint Council and Industry Promotion committee meetings in Chicago, and also at our Mid-Year Board meeting in New Orleans, AMOA President Jim Pietrangelo spoke about the possibility of creating a long-range media campaign with the sole purpose of slowly reintroducing coin-op to a generation or two of players and potential players. The campaign would try to make the concept of coin-op an entertainment option that would be integrated into the subconscious of consumers so that our products are given a fair chance of selection when players make choices upon how to spend their discretionary entertainment dollars.

Towards that end, AMOA commissioned four episodes of an internet based video trivia program called 88SLIDE. The first episode will be shown today, June 1st, and features jukeboxes as the coin-op theme. The next episode will be shown Monday, June 5th, and was shot “on location at a local coin-op venue in Long Beach” . Episodes 3 and 4 are still being discussed.

So, check out 88SLIDE on the internet at http://www.88slide.com

Better yet, subscribe to the show and each morning you will get an email with a link that takes you right to that day's episode. It's really pretty good.

Our four episodes on 88SLIDE are not the conclusion of this media campaign. Instead, they are merely a test. These episodes are not meant to be targeted at the coin-op industry. They are meant merely to introduce the coin-op concept to the general population and increase what can only be called its 'cool factor.'
