Almotech's Mystro gets makeover
|
ICE an ICEi NEWS

The new Mystro is on the button |
Just a year after making its ATEI debut, Almotech Ireland’s audio/video jukebox Mystro returns to the London stage and looks set to be a show-stopper. As a result of feedback gleaned from Mystro’s growing portfolio of customers, the Irish company has made it possible to customise the product’s glass and metalwork and reflect operator/advertiser demands. Improvements to the Mystro are not merely skin deep; the user/operator software has been reworked to improve ease of access, while a new ‘Power Search’ facility allows users to quickly find the audio/video track from thousands on offer. Genre choices have been improved to speed access to musical categories while the Mystro interface now has multi-language support for French, German, Italian etc. - it is possible to configure the interface to accommodate any requested language grouping. Adelphi Coin, appointed UK distributors of the Almotech product shortly after the 2006 show, will also be on hand at ATEI 2007 to assist visitors from the domestic market. Almotech Ireland/Adelphi Coin are exhibiting on stand 2239. Register for free entry to ATEI 2007

CyberArts’ Foundation for success
US-based gaming software developer CyberArts will be showcasing the global capabilities of the significant upgrade to its Foundation software platform at ICEi 2007. The upgrade, which helps developers minimise the risk associated with US Congress’ Safe Ports Act, includes provisions that would prohibit US-based banks and credit card companies making payments to online gambling sites. CyberArts Foundation software also now allows developers to quickly and easily launch non-English-language versions of their gaming services, and conduct transactions using a variety of payment systems in almost any currency. Chris Derossi, co-founder and CEO of CyberArts, explained: “We are very excited to offer capabilities that will allow developers to continue to diversify their online gaming offerings, and serve non-US players in any parts of the world. Major online poker sites can safely continue their financial growth in regions unaffected by the Safe Ports Act.” CyberArts will be exhibiting their new Foundation software platform at ICEi 2007 on Stand 5310. Calvin Ayre – Founder, Bodog |
Calvin Ayre – Founder, Bodog
Canadian entrepreneur Calvin Ayre founded online gambling company Bodog in 1995 and is currently ranked 746 among the world’s richest people. Residing in Costa Rica, where the company is based, he set up the Calvin Ayre Foundation in 2005 and recently appeared on the cover of Forbes magazine's "Billionaires" issue.
Do your competitors scare you or spur you?
We’re in the digital entertainment and media business and our closest competitors are the billion-dollar international media conglomerates. We can learn from some of these competitors, but we’re confident that in being the single largest multi-channel brand of our type, they’re starting to take notice of our strategies too.
What influenced you to choose this career?
I consider what I do to be the furthest thing from what some might refer to as a career. I’ve always been an entrepreneur and I’ve never had to work for anyone else in my entire adult life. I’ve been involved in a number of ventures and the Bodog project just happens to be the biggest and most successful one to date.
What is your personal motto?
No different to what the Bodog.com entertainment and lifestyle brand is designed to personify, my personal motto is to work hard and play even harder. There’s not a day that goes by where I’m not working, in some capacity, on business projects or doing charity work around the world on behalf of my foundation, but I always make time for play.
Why is your company different from your competitors?
We have positioned our business model in such a way that we’re in an entirely different space than any of our traditional competitors. We’re in the digital entertainment and media space, and our long line of business channels includes: online gaming, an international record label, a television and publishing division, and an event department that produces some of the world’s greatest parties. The power of this model is now being realized as we are witnessing a surge in popularity in all of our digital entertainment offerings.
Which is your favourite international country to do business with, and why?
One of the beauties in having an Internet-based entertainment business is that there are no borders or boundaries. People around the world have the ability to interact with Bodog.com in any place and at any time, and we’re just left with providing a great service and an all-encompassing entertainment offering.
Which famous person, dead or alive, would you most like to meet?
I’ve always wanted to meet one of the great communicators of our time, former U.S. President Bill Clinton. I’ve also read a lot about Genghis Khan, one of the most successful political and military leaders of all time, and would probably enjoy, if he were still alive, some first-hand lessons in applied war strategies as they relate to the modern business world:-)
Does money motivate you?
Money motivates me for two simple reasons: it serves as a powerful measurement of business success, and it allows me to work on the things that I deeply care about. My international charity foundation is an example of one of my passions that I’m able to pursue because of my financial means. The Calvin Ayre Foundation carries out major charitable initiatives around the world, and there are very few things that can match the level of motivation I get in seeing it achieve its desired impact.
Who’s the most important person in your organisation?
There is no one important person in a flat structured organization like Bodog.com. The team is what makes Bodog what it is, and the world-class strength of this team is the thing that I’m most proud of in the entire Bodog story.
How do you relax?
I relax by exercising and reading books and magazines about business, world affairs, history, technology and trends. I also love a great meal and a nice glass of wine.
How did you know you’d ‘made it’?
I got an email from Matt Miller, a reporter at Forbes Magazine, three days before the Forbes’ Billionaires issue was to hit the stands this year, and it read: “Lift up a glass of wine and toast yourself, Calvin; you’re on the front cover.” I think that this moment was the first time that it really hit home what a huge success Bodog had become and that it was far enough along that I really felt like I had "made it". However, I also got that feeling when I got my first toilet (biffy) with a view :-)
