Betson And Raw Thrills Predict Blockbuster Success For New ‘The Fast and The Furious – Drift’ Driver
|
Companies hail ASI honors and significant volume of orders.
CARLSTADT, NJ — Following Raw Thrills’ designation as Manufacturer of the Year at the 2007 Amusement Showcase International, Betson Enterprises announced today that it is confident that the fast-evolving Raw Thrills product line is breathing new life into the coin-op video game business. Betson’s exhibit at ASI, held in Las Vegas in late March, showcased the latest Raw Thrills video games, which generated an enthusiastic operator response at the show.
Big Buck Hunter Pro won the Game of the Year honor at the ASI awards ceremony, and Raw Thrills/Play Mechanix also received all three Platinum Sales Awards for Fast and the Furious, SuperBikes and Big Buck Hunter Pro. Raw Thrills worked with Play Mechanix to develop BBHP, and the two video game organizations merged last year.
The latest Raw Thrills’ game, The Fast and the Furious – Drift, was a crowd-pleaser at ASI, according to Bob Geschine, president of H. Betti Industries, parent company of Betson Enterprises, which exclusively markets the Raw Thrills brand. “Within a week of the show, we had more than 2,500 confirmed orders for Drift – and we’re still counting.”
Geschine added: “We are now in full production of all three current Raw Thrills/ Play Mechanix pieces, F&F–Drift, The Fast and the Furious SuperBikes and Big Buck Hunter Pro, the latest advance in the long-lived shooter design.”
F&F Drift is a sequel to the original The Fast and the Furious – sales of which surpassed 10,000 units worldwide – that adds 12 new cars and seven more tracks, while retaining all 12 of the original tracks. SuperBikes is a motorcycle-themed driver that offers players a choice of many licensed motorcycles, a variety of riders and visually impressive locales from Shanghai to Monaco.
Geschine underscored that each of the games in The Fast and the Furious lineup offers a unique gaming experience. “F&F Drift was developed from the ground up to deliver to consumers who get behind the wheel an entirely new game, which will help stimulate greater cashbox earnings.”
Big Buck Hunter Pro incorporates a number of patron-pleasing new features, including a real-time two-player competitive “Shootout,” five new high-definition 3D animal models to hunt and the ability to organize hunting treks by species rather than by region. The 3D virtual targets now include not only white-tail deer, elk and pronghorn antelope, but also moose and bighorn sheep.
Geschine observed that the strong sales performance of all three games is delivering solid dividends to the company’s distributors and their operator customers. “We want to thank the distributors and operators for their support of, and belief in, the Raw Thrills franchise,” he said. “Together, we’re succeeding in establishing a universally recognized video game product that’s only available through the coin-op channel. And I’ve had a sneak peek into the Raw Thrills/Play Mechanix future, and it just keeps getting better.”
