The famous Randy Fromm Arcade School, held August 21 - 25, 2006 at Brady Distributing Company in Charlotte, N.C., was a sold-out success! Charlotte, N.C. - The training class brought participants from all over the United States. 39 technicians from California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin, arrived on Sunday, ready to start the school early Monday morning.
The “hands-on” Tech Training Class with Play Meter Magazine’s Technical writer, Randy Fromm, provided practical training for maintenance and repair of coin-op games without complex electronic theory and expensive test equipment. Each day Randy taught different aspects in the art of practical arcade game repair. On Friday, the techs were able to put into action all the valuable knowledge they had learned from Randy during the week in a hands-on Monitor Repair Lab that is always a special ending to the class.
Lunches were served in house each day to insure participants had the most time available each day for training. An added highlight, and a fun break from training, was a visit to the Madden Season 2 Launch Tour held at Midtown Sundries on Thursday, Aug 24. The event, including a player tournament and visit from two NFL players, was sponsored by Global VR and Brady Distributing Company. The Arcade School was such a success, there was a waiting list and another class is planned soon. If you’re interested in attending, contact Brady Distributing’s Reita Smyre at 704-357-6284. There is no obligation. She will let you know when there are enough people for the second class.
