SAN FRANCISCO – Jan. 18, 2006—Ecast Inc., which operates the
largest network of broadband-enabled, pay-per-play jukeboxes in the United
States, was featured in the Microsoft booth at the Consumer Electronics Show in
Las Vegas. This is the third year in a row that Microsoft has spotlighted Ecast
at CES.
The Ecast software platform runs on the Microsoft Windows Embedded XP operating system, and was used to
demonstrate to the industry’s leading electronic manufacturers the strength and
stability of Microsoft’s technology.
“CES has become the largest, most important trade show of the year, and we
were honored that Microsoft selected us to appear in the booth,” said Marlin Gilbert, senior vice president of marketing at
Ecast.
NSM, Rock-Ola and View Interactive manufacture the
actual digital, broadband jukeboxes. Ecast licenses the underlying technology to
these jukebox manufacturers and provides the jukeboxes with access to a
constantly updated library of the latest songs over a broadband internet
connection. Ecast maintains the music library and handles the legal clearances
with the record labels, making sure patrons can play the latest new music
releases, significantly increasing jukebox earnings.
Because of the unit’s size and clean, retro design style, Ecast displayed the
Wallette Jukebox System by Rock-Ola Manufacturing Corporation.
This fully self-contained jukebox is small enough to fit on any counter, and is
currently being used by numerous amusement operators to expand their routes
beyond nightclubs and taverns to coffee shops and restaurants.
On hand to help celebrate the event was Dixon Doll (right of Marlin Gilbert),
co-founder and managing general partner of Doll Capital Management, a key
investor in Ecast. Mr. Dixon was named by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 50
venture investors. Specializing in companies that will form the foundation of
the future, his firm actively manages over $1 billion dollars in
investments.
Ecast recently launched the "Get One Free" sales promotion,
which helps operators expand their routes quickly and
affordably by receiving a free jukebox when they participate in the campaign.
Under the terms of the promotion, jukebox operators who purchase NSM, Rock-Ola
and View units between January 1, 2006, and March 31, 2006, will receive a free
jukebox or conversion kit.
