The Ecast jukebox network sold 100 million paid song plays in 2005. San Francisco — The Ecast out-of-home network, the commercial broadband jukebox leader, grew 25 percent in the first quarter of 2006, the largest single-quarter gain since the company installed its first broadband-enabled jukebox in 1999.
The Ecast interactive jukebox network, which was comprised of more than 6000 digital downloading jukeboxes in all 50 United States at the beginning of the year, will surge to more than 7500 units as a result of new broadband jukebox units sold by its manufacturing partners during the first three months of the year. To put the impact of that number in perspective, there are only 8000 Starbucks locations globally.
