“Skin and Bones” Went Live on All 8,000 Ecast-Powered Jukeboxes Across the Nation the Day After It Hit the Retail Stores SAN FRANCISCO,– Following this week’s scheduled broadband jukebox update, Ecast announced that it is featuring the first live album from the popular American rock group, The Foo Fighters.
The album, “Skin and Bones,” was released nationally to retail outlets on Tuesday, November 7 and appeared live on the Ecast broadband network first thing on Wednesday, November 8 – before most patrons will have taken the wrappers off their CDs. Formed in 1995 by the former drummer for Nirvana, Dave Grohl, the group is named after the World War II term "foo fighter," used to refer to mysterious aerial phenomena. The Foo Fighters have earned a strong worldwide following, and have scored a number of hit songs, including "This Is a Call," "Everlong," "Learn to Fly," "All My Life," "Times Like These," "Best of You," "DOA" and “My Hero.” “Skin and Bones” features 15 performances captured over a three night concert in Los Angeles’ Pantages Theater. Some fun facts about the Foo Fighters: • The video for the band's 1996 single "Big Me" was a parody of a popular series of commercials for Mentos. In the years that followed, the band would often find themselves being pelted with Mentos during live shows. • The song "Next Year" was featured as the theme song for the NBC show Ed. • In 2006, rescuers sent an Apple iPod featuring music from the Foo Fighters down a collapsed mineshaft to two surviving miners waiting to be rescued during the Beaconsfield mine collapse in Tasmania, Australia. On October 4, 2006, The Foo Fighters played a concert at the Sydney Opera House for the rescued miners. Dave Grohl played an acoustic instrumental he wrote dedicated to the miners entitled "Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners."
