ECAST SECURES EXCLUSIVE DEF JUX ALBUM PRE-RELEASE
|
Critically Acclaimed Rapper and Label Founder, El-P, Chooses Touchscreen Music Network to Promote Latest Album
SAN FRANCISCO – Ecast, an entertainment company operating the largest broadband touchscreen media network in the United States, announced that it has an exclusive arrangement with critically acclaimed rapper and Definitive Jux label founder El-P to pre-release and promote his second album, I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead.
Automatically available on the Ecast Network two weeks before its March 20 street release, the album appeared today in all Ecast locations whose jukeboxes are programmed to allow Urban (hip-hop) music promotions. Locations who opted out of the hip-hop genre will receive an alternate featured album. Ecast is the first touchscreen media provider to feature an album pre-release, adding to a long list of industry firsts by the innovative company.
In addition to providing Featured Album status to designated hip-hop locations, Ecast is using a video attract loop to maximize exposure across their 10,000-location network. Ecast is also promoting El-P on several playlists within its unique Hot Hits music discovery feature. The single “Flyentology” appears in “Heat Seeking Singles” while the album tops the “Just Added” playlist. Songs and albums promoted in Hot Hits see an increase in play between 30 percent and 700 percent, depending on current jukebox music trends and artist hype in the marketplace.
“Hot Hits consistently helps patrons remember their favorite music while educating them on the current new releases,” says Joshua Pollack, music product manager, Ecast. “For an artist like El-P who may not have mainstream buzz but has a lot of critical acclaim, this album will truly resonate with our taste-making demographic. We understand and welcome our responsibility to provide customers with the best music selection possible—I am thrilled that El-P chose to debut his new album with Ecast.”
