ECAST FEATURES LATEST ALBUM FROM BREAKOUT UK ARTIST AMY WINEHOUSE
|
Some fun facts about the artist
SAN FRANCISCO – This week as part of its regular broadband jukebox update, Ecast is featuring the latest album from UK jazz and soul singer Amy Winehouse. The album, Back to Black, was released in the US on March 2007 and made history on the US charts when it entered at #7, the highest debut for a British female solo artist until Joss Stone's "Introducing Joss Stone" debuted at # 2 just a few weeks later. Winehouse is featured on rollingstone.com as one of 10 artists to watch for in the year 2007.
Back to Black is Winehouse’s second album since her debut album Frank, which was nominated for England’s Mercury Music Prize. In contrast to her jazz-influenced first album, Winehouse's focus in Back to Black is described as "shifting to the girl groups of the fifties and sixties."
Some fun facts about the artist:
• The first single released from Back to Black on October 23, 2006 was "Rehab," a song about her past refusal to attend an alcohol rehabilitation centre after it was encouraged by her management company
• She left the management company after this incident
• Winehouse's favorite cocktail is a Rickstasy (three parts vodka, one part Southern Comfort, one part banana liqueur, and one part Baileys). “By the time you’ve had two of them you’re like, don’t even try and go anywhere. Sit down and stay down, until the birds start singing.”
