ECAST BRINGS BACK THE SUMMER OF LOVE
|
At Patron Fingertips Is the Most Comprehensive Collection of Music from the Groundbreaking 1967 Monterey Pop Music Festival
SAN FRANCISCO – This week for its weekly music update, Ecast flexes the power of its all broadband network to honor the 40th anniversary of the Monterey International Pop Festival. Already at the fingertips of patrons in every one of Ecast’s 10,000 locations is the new two-CD collection, Monterey Pop Festival, released in a group effort from Razor and Tie and Starbucks Entertainment. The album, along with 132 other albums added to the Ecast Network today, is playable and ready to start generating income for Ecast operators.
Some Fun Facts about the Monterey Festival:
- Over 200,000 people attended The Monterey International Pop Music Festival. It is often regarded as the precursor to Woodstock and as and the apex of the “Summer of Love.”
- The festival launched the careers of many who played there, making some of them into stars virtually overnight: Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Steve Miller and Indian sitar maestro Ravi Shankar.
- In those troubled times, it was highly significant that Monterey was a racially integrated bill featuring white and black performers side by side. Among many debuts, Monterey was the first time that soul star Otis Redding performed in front of a large and predominantly white audience. His appearance there was instrumental in breaking him to the general pop audience.
Other Goodies Playing on the Ecast Network Today
Highlighting the 133 albums added to the Ecast Network today and ready for play is a great mix of additional chart toppers and taste making new sounds.
- Era Vulgaris, the brand new album from cult faves Queens of the Stone Age
- Relentless from country star Jason Aldean, who is making waves with his song “Johnny Cash”
- Good Girl Gone Bad, Rhianna’s new album that features the #1 smash single “Umbrella”
- “From Nothin' to Somethin”, the edited new single from rapper hip-hop artist Fabolous
- Road to Bloodshed by Sanctity, an up and coming metal act that Ecast recently acquired through a publishing deal with Roadrunner records
- Octopus by Band of Bees, the British retro-rockers who are adored by tastemakers and critics alike
Take the Ecast challenge: Think Ecast can’t possibly have this music ready for play? Go to any of Ecast’s 10,000 locations and check it out for yourself! Of course, if the operator has blocked a particular genre or explicit lyrics, the track won’t play, but it’s there and ready to rock the house if he or she changes the filter status.
