Clark Robinson will be retiring as President and CEO of IAAPA A letter from Rob Norris, Chair, I am writing to inform you of some important changes in IAAPA’s leadership. Effective February 1, 2006, Clark Robinson will be retiring as President and CEO of IAAPA, and taking on a new role as Executive Director of Global Affairs for the Association. When Clark became President and CEO of IAAPA, he agreed to serve the association for 3-5 years, and this past July marked the beginning of his fourth year as President and CEO. The Board of Directors and Executive Officers have carefully considered a succession plan and we are in an ideal position to transition our staff leadership. During his time as President and CEO, Clark has led tremendous progress for the association. He has played a vital role in the development of the strategic plan, strengthened our governance, our Board of Directors, and our committee structure and responsibilities. He has also played a central role in building partnerships throughout the world. As Executive Director of Global Affairs, he will continue his work by remaining as an IAAPA representative for the Euro Attractions Show Board of Directors and the Global Alliances Program. Clark will also continue to visit parks and attractions throughout the world and represent the Association. With respect to the succession plan, the Board has appointed Charles Bray to become the new President and CEO of IAAPA. Charlie was hired as IAAPA’s Chief Financial Officer in June 2004. He has more than 30 years of non profit and association experience, including serving as President of two associations, the International Association of Food Industry Suppliers (IAFIS) and the Electronic Retailing Association. Charlie is an accomplished association executive who has a legacy of improving organizational effectiveness through sound business practices and effective leadership development. He has implemented strategic planning, created a business development culture, increased membership diversity in his previous experiences and will bring his leadership and drive to IAAPA’s future endeavors. During his fifteen months with IAAPA, the Board has been able to test his skills and give him a glowing recommendation for the position as President and CEO. Prior to joining the Association, Charlie was with the non-profit division of the business consulting firm RSM McGladrey, where he worked with non-profit clients on such issues as strategic planning, organizational effectiveness, board governance, and best practice benchmarking. Charlie began his career with Arthur Andersen, spent five years with American University, and 17 years with the Food Marketing Institute, where he rose to senior vice president and chief financial officer. He also owned and operated Bray & Jackson, P.C. Charlie is a graduate of Virginia Tech University with a bachelor of science in business. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Business Bank Advisory Board. He lives in Mclean, Virginia with his wife, Becky. Please join me in celebrating with Clark as he begins his new role with IAAPA, and welcoming Charlie as our new President and CEO. Please don’t hesitate to call or email me with questions or thoughts. I look forward to working with each of you throughout 2006. Warm
Regards, |
