IAAPA International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions

Analysts Predict Positive and Profitable Future for Asian Amusement and Attractions Industry

IAAPA Asian Expo being held to connect industry professionals

Pricewaterhouse Coopers, LLP (PWC) recently released its Global Entertainment and Media Outlook, and once again the company forecasts that the attractions and amusement industry in the Asia Pacific region will grow at a faster rate than any other region of the world. Asia is projected to generate average annual revenue increases of 5.9 percent, for a total of 65.6 RMB billion (US$8.2 billion) in revenues by 2010. Attendance at Asia’s parks is expected to hit 278 million in 2010, growing at an annual rate of 3.5 percent.

According to PWC, China and India are emerging as major theme park locations. Improved economic conditions are allowing for more domestic travel on the consumer part, and re-investment options for theme parks— which are each vital contributors to the growth of Asia Pacific’s amusement and attractions offerings. Additionally, new parks are planned in India, South Korea and the Philippines.

To meet the demand for rides, products and services in the Asia Pacific region—and in anticipation of future growth in the Asian attractions and amusement market—IAAPA Asian Expo 2006 will be held 12—14 July 2006 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

“Asia Pacific is clearly an emerging market for the amusement and attractions industry, and we want to help fuel that growth,” said Charlie Bray, IAAPA President and CEO. “IAAPA Asian Expo is an excellent forum for buyers representing parks and attractions to find products and services to enhance their facilities.”

IAAPA Asian Expo 2006 is Asia’s premier marketplace for the amusement and attractions industry. As the Expo spotlights 125 of the world’s top suppliers in rides, show productions, games, inflatables and more, educational and networking opportunities also connect colleagues that are striving to advance amusement parks and attractions in the region.

Qualified buyers are invited to attend IAAPA Asian Expo 2006 for no cost by registering by 1 July 2006. Registration is available online at http://iaapaasia.expoplanner.com/attendeereg.asp. Registration after 1 July 2006 is 100 RMB (US$12.50). For more information about IAAPA Asian Expo 2006, please visit www.iaapaexpo.com.

In 2005, more than 60 percent of IAAPA Asian Expo’s attendees were company representatives including presidents, owners or senior managers. Business specialties that were represented included: Amusement and Theme Parks, Waterparks, Family Entertainment Centers, Concessionaires, Casinos, Shopping Centers, Aquariums, Hotels and Resorts, Zoos and Real Estate Developers.
