Golden Tee Golf Sponsors Intercollegiate Golf Event
Hosted by Peter Jacobsen

Arlington Heights, IL - Peter Jacobsen's name has been

synonymous with Golden Tee since the first Golden Tee 3D Golf game rolled off the production line in 1995. During the past 10 years his voice and likeness have become familiar to millions of players in bars and taverns around the world, as they controlled the PGA champ's swing with the touch of a trackball. While the opportunity to shoot a round of golf with Peter is limited to the video game experience for most players, lucky golfers from a dozen U.S. collegiate teams received a special chance to take on the star, one-on-one.

Intercollegiate Invitational held on March 14-15 at Hammock Bay Golf and Country Club in Naples, Florida. Designed to be the premier collegiate golf tournament in the country, the invitational featured 12 top university golf squads who squared-off in 54 holes of tournament play.

In an effort to add more competition and excitement to the invitational, Incredible Technologies worked with Jacobsen's production company to create the Golden Tee Closest-to-the-Pin Challenge. A Golden Tee machine, provided by Bob Schuster of Coin Drop Games in Naples, was wheeled into the VIP banquet room - where the collegians competed for a chance to challenge Peter in a Golden Tee championship playoff.

An excited crowd gathered to cheer on Peter and Mike Bielawski of Marquette University, as they battled in a 9-hole championship round. Bielawski, a rookie to Golden Tee, defeated Peter at his own game with the help of his Marquette University teammates. “I shot better on Golden Tee than I did in the real tournament today!”

Bielawski exclaimed. Though Peter was defeated, his disappointment was overshadowed by laughter as he told tales of his colorful history with the famed video golf game.

“I've been a part of Golden Tee for a very long time and I have always loved working with Incredible Technologies on the game,” Jacobsen said. “You wouldn't believe the jabs I get on the tour from obsessed Golden Tee fans. It happens all the time and always cracks me up!” he added.

Jacobsen's long relationship with IT has now grown even closer with his audio and video commentator role in the newest generation of the game: Golden Tee LIVE. “Peter Jacobsen is a consummate professional and an exemplary athlete,” said Larry Hodgson, IT's vice president of development and co-creator of Golden Tee Golf. ”We have long been proud of our relationship with Peter and look forward to working even closer with him and his staff throughout the launch of LIVE. Our goal is to continue to leverage our relationship with Peter to bring more attention to Golden Tee in the mainstream media. This will help keep interest high and cashboxes filled.”
