Flamingo Land Installs Cell Phone ‘Virtual Queue’ Technology

Monkwood Technologies Limited announces agreement to use new technology

London, UK – Flamingo Land announces the agreement to install Monkwood Technologies Limited’s cell phone based ‘Virtual Queuing’ system at their North Yorkshire based facility in the United Kingdom.

The Flamingo Land theme park, zoo and holiday resort has become the first theme park to provide this cell phone solution that ensures guests don’t have to stand in queues to ride most of the venue’s popular attractions. In the agreement revealed in this press announcement, Monkwood’s cell phone, wristband and scanning applications offer a means to run a ‘virtual queue’ system that automatically contacts guests when it’s time to ride.

In announcing the agreement, Gordon Gibb, Flamingo Land’s CEO, stated “we offer guests innovative and cutting edge personalised experiences. “I’m really excited to be able to give our guests a world-first and at the same time enhance our operational management and customer communication systems.” The system offers much more than just a means to avoid having to stand in queues, Colin Nunn, Monkwood’s CEO, added “we provide lost child help, CRM systems, operational statistics, communication systems and means of altering crowd dynamics. I’m really looking forward to working with Flamingo Land to roll out technologies that are revolutionary to the attractions industry”.

The deployment of this technology both improves the experience of visiting Flamingo Land, but also helps Flamingo Land to increase the utilisation of their venue with guests free to explore the park, the zoo, take other rides or visit shops and restaurants, rather than waiting in queues. The ability to create a ‘virtual queue’, using the ubiquitous cell phone carried by nearly every guest that enters the facility, is a ground-breaking application of new technology developed by Monkwood.
