Autumn Harvest Yields New Crop of TournaMAXX Winners
Bensalem, PA - Merit Industries, Inc. greeted the recent change of seasons with the renewal of Autumn Harvest - a TournaMAXX™ event that this year included the Megatouch™ games Boxxi™ and Card Bandits™.
Heading the list of winners was Mark Malloy, an obvious Megatouch fan who aced Boxxi once again, after previously winning in Merit's June Breeze tournament. Playing out of Sorrento's in Freeland, PA, Malloy fended off challenges from second-place winner Randy Wilson of Randy's Grill & Chill in Lincoln, NE, and third-place finisher Anthony Porter of Sal's in South Philadelphia. Touch-screens for the respective locations were provided by local vendors Aaaamusement Rrr Usss, Taylor Amusements, and Apple Vending Company.
Regarding Malloy's repeat victory, Bernard Gabrille, Jr. of Aaaamusement Rrr Usss wasn't surprised. “When it comes to TournaMAXX,” he commented, “the players who know it, love it.”
Apparently, “Moose” Gaughen of Charlottesville, VA also loves to play. His first-place score in Card Bandits - racked up at St. Maarten's Café on a Megatouch provided by The Game Connection - was 50,000 points higher than his closest competition. Meanwhile, the battle for runner-up was waged within the North Star State, as Bob Chase of Crystal, MN edged out Kim Fredrickson of Aitkin. Second place was earned on a Megatouch supplied by CDL Company to the Brooklyn Center American Legion, while Fredrickson played from The Riverside Pub on a touch-screen provided by the Hazelwood Corporation.
Chase, a two-year player who said he enjoys the challenge of the competition, was coy when asked about his gaming strategy. “I won't give away my secrets, but it's all about making correct choices and playing quickly,” he offered.
CDL Company's Charles Leininger, Jr. has been continually impressed by the turnout for Merit's on-line tournaments. “I run pool leagues, dart leagues and Golden Tee tournaments,” he said, “and TournaMAXX is the biggest money maker I run.”
Bob Mills, Merit's Vice President of Network Businesses & Marketing, was particularly pleased with the results of the Autumn Harvest tournament. “We would like to thank all who participated for helping to make this event another great success,” said Mills. “We especially appreciate our sponsors, including Mars Electronics, Tatung Company of America, ECS and 3M Touch Systems. The quality of our sponsors' products has helped Merit's touch-screen game business operators generate profits through unmatched reliability.”
