The MoD BoX hits the market as Bensalem, PA - Merit Entertainment announced today that it has released its first jukebox product, the MoD BoX™. MoD refers to the jukebox's Music on Demand™ capability. The MoD BoX is an Internet-connected, wall-mounted jukebox that offers users tens of thousands of published songs from all genres, including the latest releases.
The MoD BoX hits the market as the best-priced digital jukebox available. In spite of its price point, the MoD BoX is not lacking for features, sound quality, or innovations. The MoD BoX comes with one hundred and fifty albums stored on its local hard drive that the operator pre-selects from any of seventeen genres. Tens of thousands more songs are available via instant download. On the hardware side, the MoD BoX includes a 250W power supply and Merit backs up the hard drive with a lifetime warranty. Among its long list of features, operators can count on automatic updates to the music library and the system software, select hot songs for premium pricing, and set schedules for or block songs with explicit lyrics.
“With the MoD BoX, we take another step toward providing operators with an entire entertainment package for their locations,” said Colin Higbie, Merit's Director of Marketing. “With its near-limitless, yet easy-to-navigate song selection, easy-wall mount installation, and numerous other friendly and operator-tested features, we know the MoD BoX will build on our history of breakthrough innovation and manufacturing excellence.”
For those locations that don't yet support broadband, Merit and AMI Entertainment (Grand Rapids, MI) together have developed the first jukebox to support both broadband and dial-up connections. Broadband connections benefit from access to a larger library of songs for users and can provide them the convenience of credit cards. Both broadband and dial-up connections, however, are capable of performing automatic updates. Both allow the operator to select additional songs to add to the standard or premium song lists from the comfort of his office. Both allow the operator to check on earnings and other statistics from any web browser. The AMI network handles the communication for all of these innovations.
Merit, best known for its enduring and popular MegaTouch touch-screen games, has taken steps to build value for operators with those systems already installed. Merit expects its standard spring software update to add the ability for users playing MegaTouch games to pay for and select songs directly from the game system.
“With more opportunities for coin drop, we expect greater jukebox revenue for our operators than with the jukebox system alone,” explained David Logan, Merit's CEO. “We also see opportunities for operator cross-promotion to users - for example, play a game, recommend a song.”
For more than 27 years, Merit has ensured long-term return on investment for operators by providing continually high-earning equipment along with updates and upgrades for its products. With an installed base of over 250,000 touch-screen games garnering nearly 4.6 billion plays per year, Merit Entertainment is the worldwide leader in touch-screen entertainment devices. Merit Entertainment products appear globally in a wide array of venues and appeal to an almost limitless demographic. Merit continues to expand its position in the industry with ever-increasing entertainment, content and new games. The company maintains a Web site with all the latest information at www.meritind.com.
