MICROTRONIC US
Announces MICROpay - The New Universal Payment System for Vending
Applications
|
During the upcoming NAMA Spring Expo, Las Vegas, Apr 12 - 13, 2007, MICROTRONIC makes live presentations of MICROpay at booth # 801.
MICROTRONIC announces MICROpay - the new universal payment system for vending
applications. MICROpay accepts contactless PayPass credit and debit bank
cards along with NFC cell phones and Mifare media. MICROpay can be connected
to any vending machine. Any MDB coin mech or any MDB bill acceptor can be
connected to MICROpay. One system - universal payment options. During the
upcoming NAMA Spring Expo, Las Vegas, Apr 12 - 13, 2007, MICROTRONIC makes
live presentations of MICROpay at booth # 801.
1. PayPass
The major three credit card companies MasterCard, Visa and American Express
have defined a new worldwide standard to make credit and debit card payment
safer and faster from the customer point of view. A contactless chip based
on ISO 14443 is embedded in addition to the traditional magnetic stripe.
MICROpay accepts media with this contactless chip. You just tap the bank
card on the reader within a short range and communication will be established
very fast.
In contrast to mag stripe transaction a PayPass credit card never leaves
the owner's hands - simply Tap N Go. Neither PIN code nor signature is
required for micro-payments below $25 / ?30 / £15 / CHF40. That makes PayPass
so fast. This new user interface is a perfect solution for small purchases
in vending. The same secure bank transaction processing is used in the background
as today. Each mag stripe and PayPass transaction appears separately on
the monthly settlement of the card issuer.
2. NFC (near field communication)
Several market studies prove that the cell phone is one of the most popular
electronic gadgets in the worldwide consumer market. NFC cell phones are
able to perform similar contactless micro-payments as PayPass. The same
ISO 14443 standard underlies NFC and PayPass. MICROpay fully supports NFC
applications, too. A fundamental advantage of NFC micro-payment is the user
interaction: every purchase detail can be displayed on the cell phone. NFC
cell phones can be used in a closed environment with an electronic purse
to preload as well as in public vending with integrated PayPass features
- just like a PayPass credit card.
3. Mifare
Mifare conforms to the international ISO 14443 RFID standard. Mifare is
the most widely installed contactless smart card technology for closed environments.
More than 500 million smart cards and more than 5 million reader components
are in use globally. MICROTRONIC has a huge worldwide customer base using
the existing MICROTRONIC Mifare solution which is especially designed for
in-house vending. MICROpay fully incorporates the existing Mifare solution
offering free drinks options, user group pricing, discounts, loyalty programs
and more.
