National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA)
NAMA RECOGNIZES ARAMARK CORPORATION FOR BALANCED FOR LIFE DONATION: ARAMARK Recognized by NAMA and America Scores for Donating Products to Five Spring Jamboree Events
CHICAGO, IL - The National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) today officially recognized ARAMARK Corporation for its generous donation supporting five spring Balanced for Life events designed to underscore the vending industry's work to help address the nation's rising obesity rates, NAMA President and CEO Richard M. Geerdes announced today. The company donated products to be distributed at day long community soccer Jamborees that were part of NAMA's partnership with non-profit America Scores designed to help get kids active.
Balanced for Life is a national education initiative launched by NAMA to underscore the importance of a balanced diet and being physically active, and is funded by the industry's Endowing the Future campaign. America Scores is a program partner that sponsors after school soccer and literacy programs in inner city neighborhoods in 14 cities across the country, and ARAMARK Corporation donated products and staff at five of the joint Balanced for Life America Scores events.
In discussing ARAMARK's donation Geerdes said, “ARAMARK Corporation went above and beyond the call of duty by providing free balanced choice snacks for hundreds of students, parents, teachers and coaches at five Balanced for Life America Scores Jamborees. In addition, in each city they provided staff members to help convey our messages at the Balanced for Life booth. The response we received from both America Scores and the visitors to the events was overwhelmingly positive, thanks largely to ARAMARK's donation. On behalf of everyone we thank them for their generosity and applaud them for their initiative.”
The Balanced for Life America Scores Jamborees! were held in Denver, San Francisco, Chicago and Washington, DC, and a special additional event was also sponsored by ARAMARK in Seattle. During the day long soccer festival, students enjoyed better-for-you snacks courtesy of ARAMARK Corporation and competed in the Balanced for Life Jump Rope Jump Off! while their parents and community leaders learned more about our campaign. ARAMARK General Managers Mike Jakubik, Phil McKenna, Nate Ormond, Tom Anderson, Don Sikich, and Jeff Keeling all donated their time as well, dispensing product at the booth to students and parents and supervising the student Jump Rope Jump Off! competition.
Said America Scores President Paul Caccamo, “By providing healthy snacks for students at these events ARAMARK Corporation demonstrated its commitment to healthy lifestyles and healthy futures for our kids, and we thank them for their generous support.”
Concluded Geerdes, “We can always count on ARAMARK to be at the forefront of programs designed to help push our industry forward, and on behalf of everyone in our industry we thank them for their continued support.”
NAMA is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries including on-site, commissary, catering, & mobile. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic merchandising and OCS industries, still guides NAMA today as it did in 1936, the year of the organization's founding.
