National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA)
GOLF TOURNEY AND THEATER NIGHT KICK OFF NAMA NATIONAL EXPO GAMC Plans Special Pre-NAMA Trade Show Events
CHICAGO, IL - A Golf Tournament, hosted by The Georgia Automatic Merchandising Council (GAMC), will kick off activities for the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) 2005 Expo announced Alan Plaisted, owner of Southern Refreshment Services and NAMA EXPO Chair. To be held Tuesday, Oct. 25, the Tournament is followed by the Quality Coffee Certification Program on Wednesday, October 26, and the official opening of the NAMA Expo on Thursday October 27 and continuing through Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Georgia World Congress Center.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the NAMA Expo this year,” said Plaisted. “In addition to its southern hospitality, Atlanta is a large city with fine dining, wonderful museums, great theater, terrific sports teams and world-class shopping. There is something here for everyone and we're delighted to welcome our colleagues from around the world to our wonderful city,” he added.
The tournament, held at The Heritage Golf Club in Norcross, GA, will begin at 10 am with 11 am shotgun start. There is a $125 fee per player and includes greens fees, golf cart, range balls and box lunch, and a $300 fee for hole sponsor. The tournament is limited to 132 players and there is an Oct. 4, 2005, registration deadline, according to Plaisted.
Along with the Golf Tournament, GAMC will be hosting a State Office's Dinner, “A Night at the Theater,” on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The evening will begin with a cocktail party and a behind-the-scene tour of the Fox Theater, one of the best known theaters in America. After the tour, everyone will head across the street to Agatha's, a mystery dinner theater.
The NAMA National Expo is the world's largest vending, coffee service and foodservice management exposition. Each year more than 300 exhibitors and 5,000 attendees worldwide participate. It features an impressive array of the industry's newest products and hottest technology, educational sessions and unmatched networking opportunities.
The show will include favorites from past years:
- A Foodservice Pavilion, with live chef demonstrations;
- Silent Auction, with proceeds going to the NAMA Foundation, which funds industry research and scholarships and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic;
- Industry Awards Banquet, an elegant “black tie optional” reception, dinner and awards ceremonies to recognize and honor five deserving 2005 Vending and Coffee Services Industry Award winners.
“We are looking forward to hosting the golf tournament and evening at the theater, and know that all who participate will have an enjoyable time,” concluded Plaisted.

NAMA is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee services and foodservice management industries including on-site, commissary, catering, and mobile. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic merchandising and foodservice industries, still guides NAMA today as it did in 1936, the year of the organization's founding.
