Updates Assure Equipment Meets Health Safety Standards
Chicago, IL - The Automatic Merchandising Health-Industry AMHIC oversees and keeps current the Construction Standard and the policies used by NAMA in its Vending Machine Evaluation Program, which enables vending machine manufacturers to build equipment that conforms to public health requirements. The Evaluation Program is open to all vending machine manufacturers, re-manufacturers and suppliers of conversion equipment for food, beverage and water. Participants show their willingness to promote public health by providing customers with machines that comply with the FDA Code, EPA Regulation and the NAMA Construction Standard, Eils said. When a machine meets the requirements, a Letter of Compliance is given by the public health consultant, identifying the machine by manufacturer, model number and the date the certification was issued. Manufacturers are then authorized to display the “NAMA Listed” Service Mark on all their listed machines. Operators then have the assurance that the vending machines they purchase comply with national public health standards. The current list of Certified Food and Beverage Vending Machines are maintained on the NAMA web site at www.vending.org/evaluation. Materials for the Evaluation Program and electronic copies of the revised NAMA Construction Standard are available by contacting NAMA at 312-346-0370. AMHIC's members represent national public health associations, federal, state and local regulatory agencies, three branches of the Armed Forces, and representatives from manufacturers, operators and suppliers. The Council will be celebrating its Golden Anniversary next year. NAMA is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries including on-site, commissary, catering, & mobile. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic merchandising and coffee service industries, still guides NAMA today as it did in 1936, the year of the organization's founding. |
