NAMA National Automatic Merchandising Association

ATTENDEES GIVE NAMA’S NEW SUPERVISOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM RAVE REVIEWS

Program Unveiled at Spring Expo is a Sweeping Success

Chicago, IL – Attendees to the National Automatic Merchandising Association’s (NAMA) new Supervisor Training and Development Program, sponsored by Pepsico Foodservice, uniformly raved about the effectiveness of the program, NAMA Director of Education and Meeting Services LyNae Schleyer, CMP, announced today. The program was developed specifically for newly appointed and experienced supervisors and managers and was officially unveiled at the NAMA Spring Expo in Las Vegas.

“For our first session 28 attendees participated in the three-day program and in testimonial after testimonial they raved about the program. We’re thrilled to have such a successful launch of what promises to be a very powerful program,” said Schleyer.

The program is designed specifically to equip participants with tools, goals and training to become effective team leaders. They, in turn, will help push their companies into new levels of growth and prosperity. The program is similar to the highly successful Executive Development Program currently offered at Michigan State University and is taught by outside professors and internal industry experts.

Some of the testimonials received from program attendees include:

“I would like to thank NAMA for the great learning experience and would recommend this program to anybody in the business.” Craig Gonzales, Whitener Snacks, Inc.

“I have been a supervisor and in sales for eight years and was skeptical about what I would get out of this class. Boy, was I surprised – this is a must class for any supervisor no matter how much experience you have.” John Douglas, US Coffee & Tea Company

“This was a very satisfying program. I will take this information and use it immediately and also share it with my colleagues.” Michael Williamson, Canteen

“This program was well worth the time and money invested. The information was helpful along with the interaction with other vendors. I recommend this highly!” Karla Brooks, Sauk Valley Vendors

Topics discussed during the three day session included Decision Making, Time Management, Communication, Personal Selling Skills, Leadership, Working with Customers, Safety/Security, Food Handling and an Accounting overview. Many sessions were interactive and those who attended participated in actual mini-cases that were incorporated into class discussion. “This new program is an intense exposure to the strategies and skills critical for a successful leader in today’s fast-paced world. It also offers the opportunity to share experiences with industry colleagues, develop people skills and learn more about the trends shaping today’s business world,” Schleyer said. “We’ll be offering it in Chicago July 12-14 and again at the National Expo in Orlando, Tuesday, October 24 thru Thursday, October 26, and I think anyone who is in a Supervisory position and interested in advancing professionally should attend.” For more information about the program visit www.vending.org.

NAMA is celebrating its 70th anniversary, and is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries including on-site, commissary, catering, & mobile. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic merchandising and coffee service industries, still guides NAMA today as it did in 1936, the year of the organization’s founding.
