Tools and Resources Help New Supervisors Create the Best Workforce Possible Chicago, IL – Newly appointed supervisors and managers in vending, coffee service and onsite food management who missed the first National Automatic Merchandising Association’s (NAMA) Supervisor Training and Development Program, sponsored by Pepsico Foodservice, will be pleased to know that a new session has been added in July, NAMA Sr. Director of Education and Meeting Services LyNae Schleyer, CMP, announced today. The program is designed to equip newly appointed and experienced supervisors and managers with tools, goals and training to become effective team leaders, and will be held July 12-14, 2006 in Chicago Northwest Suburb near O'Hare International Airport (Elk Grove Village, IL).In discussing the newly added session Schleyer said, “We unveiled the program during the Spring Expo, but it was so popular we wanted to offer it regionally to make it as accessible to as many people as possible. In testimonial after testimonial attendees simply raved about how much they enjoyed the program and looked forward to applying the concepts discussed back at work.” Some of the testimonials received from program attendees include: “I would like to thank NAMA for the great learning experience and would recommend this program to anybody in the business.” Craig Gonzales, Whitener Snacks, Inc. “I have been a supervisor and in sales for eight years and was skeptical about what I would get out of this class. Boy, was I surprised – this is a must class for any supervisor no matter how much experience you have.” John Douglas, US Coffee & Tea Company “This was a very satisfying program. I will take this information and use it immediately and also share it with my colleagues.” Michael Williamson, Canteen The program complements the highly successful Executive Development Program currently offered at Michigan State University and is taught by outside professors and internal industry experts. Topics include Decision Making, Time Management, Communication, Personal Selling Skills, Leadership, Working With Customers, Safety/Security, Food Handling and an Accounting overview. Many sessions are interactive and attendees will participate in actual mini-cases that will be incorporated into class discussion. “This program will be an intense exposure to the strategies and skills critical for a successful leader in today’s fast-paced world. It also offers the opportunity to share experiences with industry colleagues, develop people skills and learn more about the trends shaping today’s business world,” Schleyer said. Seminar fee for NAMA members is $975 per person plus $150 for materials and includes three continental breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners and breaks. Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses. The program will be offered again in Orlando during the National Expo October 24-26.
