|
Machine is Third One Up for Bid at Charity Expo Event;
Full Page Ad Donated by Vending Times and
Ladies Diamond Watch Donated by Automatic Merchandiser Also Up for Bid
Chicago, IL- A fully stocked Pringles machine donated by Procter & Gamble
for the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) Silent Auction sponsored by Masterfoods USA means that three machines will be up for bid at the charity fundraiser to be held at the National Expo next month, NAMA Manager of Human Resources Joann Gonos, PHR, announced today. The other two machines include a Packaged Cold Drink Vending Machine, donated by Dixie Narco, and a Mini Melts Vending Machine, donated by Mini Melts. The Pringles machine will be a ‘closed bid auction’ item which is a new feature this year.
In discussing the latest donation Joann Gonos, PHR, Manager of Human Resources said, “We are just thrilled that Procter & Gamble has made this incredible donation. We’ve already collected products valued at more than $30,000 and continue to receive more.”
Gonos added that in addition to the three vending machines, other exciting donations up for bid include one full page color ad donated by Vending Times to appear in their Annual Buyer’s Guide; one Michigan State University Executive Development Program, donated by NAMA, and a Saint Honore Women's Diamond Watch donated by Automatic Merchandiser. Several sporting event donations will also be up for bid, including tickets for the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Indians.
For the ‘closed bid auction’ on the Pringles Machine, bid amounts will not be disclosed. Bidders will have the opportunity to bid on the item using a form and ballot box. The highest bidder will win the fully stocked machine, shipped to the winner’s location by Procter & Gamble. A life size poster will be displayed in the silent auction area with reference to the Procter & Gamble booth number in which the machine will be displayed.
The ”closed bid auction” for the Pringles machine will end on Thursday, October 26 at noon, and the winner will be announced on Friday morning in the Silent Auction area and in the Procter & Gamble booth. If there is a tie between two or more people, there will be a random draw of those bidders as a tie breaker.
“Our industry has a long history of giving back to the community, which is why this pleases me to see so many people getting involved” added Gonos. To donate to the Silent Auction, call Joann Gonos at 312-346-0370 x 229 or e-mail her at jgonos@vending.org. The deadline to send in your donated items is on October 6. The NAMA Foundation was established in 1982, and works to assist in improving the image of vending internally and in the eyes of the general public. It is funded by grants from industry companies as well as member contributions.
NAMA is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2006. The organization is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries including on-site, commissary, catering, & mobile. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic merchandising and coffee service industries, still guides NAMA today as it did in 1936, the year of the organization’s founding.
