NAMA National Automatic Merchandising Association

DON’T MISS OUT!

OCT. 6 FINAL CHANCE TO DONATE TO NAMA SILENT AUCTION
Turn Silence Into Gold & Benefit NAMA Foundation & Make A Wish Foundation of Central & Northern Fla.

Chicago, IL – The October 6 deadline is fast approaching for donating items for the 7th annual National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) Silent Auction which will be held during the NAMA National Expo, NAMA Manager of Human Resources Joann Gonos announced today. The trade show will be held Wednesday, October 25, through Friday, October 27, 2006, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

“So far we have 80 donors who have contributed a variety of gifts valued at over $35,000, but we are hoping for more since 10 percent of the proceeds will benefit the NAMA Foundation and the Make A Wish Foundation of Central and Northern Florida,” Gonos said.

Some of the donations received to date include:

• A fully stocked Pringles machine donated by Procter & Gamble (featured in a special closed bidding auction)
• A Packaged Cold Drink Vending Machine, donated by Dixie Narco
• A Mini Melts Vending Machine, donated by Mini Melts.
• A full page color ad donated by Vending Times to appear in their Annual Buyer’s Guide
• One Michigan State University Executive Development Program, donated by NAMA
• A Saint Honore Women's Diamond Watch donated by Automatic Merchandiser
• Several sporting event donations will also be up for bid, including tickets for the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Indians.

Located at the show floor entrance, the Silent Auction will open at 3 p.m. Wednesday and close at 3 p.m. Thursday, There will be a “Second Chance Auction” from 10 a.m. to noon Friday for any remaining items.

For the ‘closed bid auction’ on the Pringles Machine, bid amounts will not be disclosed. Bidders will have the opportunity to bid on the item using a form and ballot box. The highest bidder will win the fully stocked machine, shipped to the winner’s location by Procter & Gamble. A life size poster will be displayed in the silent auction area with reference to the Procter & Gamble booth number in which the machine will be displayed.

“We welcome gifts of any value,” said Gonos. So far we have contributions in a variety of categories: sporting events and goods, NASCAR, vending and coffee machine products, golf-related, gift baskets and gift cards, specialty and logo, at home, education and advertising and miscellaneous. Specifically, items include tickets for basketball games, NASCAR jackets, golf for three at Hacienda Heights in California, and a one-night weekend stay at the Hyatt in Chicago. Contributors should feel free to donate smaller items as well. Said Gonos. “We are very grateful for larger gifts, but smaller items are grouped together for a gift collection,” she said.

Concluded Gonos, “In the past NAMA has done extremely well with its silent auction and raised tens of thousands of dollars to fund industry research and scholarships through the NAMA Foundation. We are well on our way another successful event that benefits us all.” Thank you to all of the current donors for participating in this great event!

The NAMA Foundation was established in 1982, and works to assist in improving the image of vending internally and in the eyes of the general public. It is funded by grants from industry companies as well as member contributions.

NAMA is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2006. The organization is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries including on-site, commissary, catering, & mobile. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic merchandising and coffee service industries, still guides NAMA today as it did in 1936, the year of the organization’s founding.
