NAMA National Automatic Merchandising Association

COKE EXCLUSIVE SPONSOR OF NAMA INDUSTRY AWARDS BANQUET

New Thursday Evening Event Features Dinner and Dancing to Honor Fischer, Tullio, Bernish, Frankel and Plaisted

CHICAGO, IL – The vending, coffee service and foodservice industry’s most prestigious evening, the National Automatic Merchandising Association’s (NAMA) Industry Awards Banquet, will be sponsored exclusively by Coca-Cola, NAMA Sr. Director of Education and Meeting Services LyNae Schleyer, CMP announced today. This year’s event will be held in Orlando on Thursday, October 26 and will honor Howard Fischer, US Roasterie, Peter Tullio, Gourmet Coffee, Phil Bernish, Vistar Houston, Barry Frankel, Family Vending, Florida, and Alan Plaisted, Southern Refreshments.

In discussing Coke’s decision to sponsor the event Schleyer said, “The ‘Celebration of Leadership’ Banquet is one of the most significant events of the year, and Coke’s sponsorship of the event underscores the commitment the company has always made to help push our industry forward. It’s sure to be a memorable evening and we thank Coke for its generosity in sponsoring this exciting celebration.”

This year’s banquet features a new format, with the event moved to Thursday evening and the dress code changed to business attire. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a reception, featuring Coca-Cola cocktails, and follows with the awards presentation including an elegant three course dinner. Later, attendees can enjoy an open bar and will be treated to the sounds of the fun dance band The Craig Woolard Band.

Some of the other highlights from this year’s Expo include:

• A special session Thursday morning featuring the findings of a sweeping consumer vending research project. Insights about new products consumers would buy from vending machines, what keeps them from using the machines now and how much they would pay for a particular product are just some of the findings to be discussed during the session. This is the first consumer study of the vending industry in more than 10 years, and anyone serious about understanding the future of our industry can’t afford to miss this session.
• Golf outing, 12:30 p.m. shotgun start Tuesday
• Updated and Expanded Quality Coffee Certification Program, Wednesday
• 16 exhibit hours: 3-7 p.m. Wednesday; 5:30-7 p.m., opening reception on exhibit floor; 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday.
• New Supervisor Development Program, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon
• Saturday and Sunday free to visit the many tourist locations or spend time at home with the family.

Concluded Schleyer, “The industry leaders we are recognizing have made a remarkable contribution to our industry and we thank Coke for helping us to create an event that recognizes their achievement. It’s sure to be a fun event and we look forward to seeing everyone there.”

NAMA is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2006. The organization is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries including on-site, commissary, catering, & mobile. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic merchandising and coffee service industries, still guides NAMA today as it did in 1936, the year of the organization’s founding.
