NAMA National Automatic Merchandising Association
KWIK VENDING'S KENDELL NAMED NAMA SPRING EXPO CHAIR
|
Salt Lake City Native Very Familiar With
Warehouse Environment
CHICAGO, IL - Thomas Kendell, vice president and general manager of KWIK Vending Service, will serve as the 2007 National>
Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) Spring Expo Chair, NAMA
President and CEO Richard M. Geerdes announced today.
The Spring Expo, the world's largest vending, coffee service and
foodservice management exposition, will be held Thursday and Friday,
April 12-13, with educational programming offered Tuesday-Friday, April
10-13, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Convention Center in Las
Vegas.
In announcing the appointment Geerdes said, °Tom is an exceptional
colleague, and we are pleased that he has agreed to chair NAMA's Spring
Expo. We look forward to working with him as we launch the industry's
most powerful and highly anticipated event.
A native of Utah, Tom was born and raised in Salt Lake City. Since his
father worked for KWIK Vending, he grew up around the business, working in
the warehouse during summers while he was in high school. While earning a
BS degree in accounting from Westminster College, Tom worked for AW
Marshall Company, a candy, tobacco and vending distributor. After
graduating, he tried a few accounting jobs but realized he did not enjoy
sitting behind a desk all day.
While searching for something new, he discovered that KWIK was looking for
someone to manage the warehouse and do all of the company's purchasing.
He joined KWIK Vending in 1999, and has worked his way up to vice
president and general manager. Tom and his wife Andrea have been married
for nine years, and have two daughters, Samantha, 8, and Abigayle, 5.
"I have learned business and life lessons from some of the people who
have made the industry what it is today, and I look forward to using those
lessons to take our business into the next generation," Tom said.
Each year more than 240 exhibitors and 4,000 attendees turn out for the
NAMA Spring Expo, which features an impressive array of the industry"s
newest products and hottest technology, educational sessions and unmatched
networking opportunities. This year's Spring Expo includes:
- Supervisor Development Program This four-day program for recently
appointed as well as experienced supervisor and managers will help them
develop skills needed in their new role.
- Quality Coffee Certification Program Learn the four fundamentals of
brewing a quality cup of coffee at this very popular program, which begins
with the history of coffee and continues from the bean to the cup.
- Buyers Corner Attendees can hear from various companies and
compare products and services in a variety of categories, then visit those
exhibitors directly for more information.
- Fifth Annual NAMA Western Golf Classic Have fun with your industry
friends and help support educational programs and student scholarships.
- Spring Fling Party Stay right in the building and join NAMA

commitment to NAMA and the industry, and look forward to seeing everyone
in Las Vegas in April."

vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries including
on-site, commissary, catering, & mobile. Its membership is comprised of
service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and
services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the
association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic
merchandising and coffee service industries, still guides NAMA today as it
did in 1936, the year of the organization's founding.
