It is funded by grants from industry companies as well as member contributions. It has its own Board of Directors and separate funding, and supports a wide range of initiatives, projects and programs that not only complement the work of NAMA, but also advance the industry in ways over and above what NAMA alone can accomplish. One of the most important initiatives underway through the Foundation is the industry-wide capital campaign, Endowing the Future, which raises funding for a number of industry programs, including Balanced for Life. Through Endowing the Future the Foundation also funds Consumer Research to identify emerging markets and non-traditional business opportunities to help the industry grow and prosper, and works extensively to support a wide array of educational programs both for existing members as well as for those considering a career in our industry. The Foundation also funds a national industry scholarship program to help students who are employees of NAMA member companies attend college. “The Foundation By-laws provide that a minimum of two-thirds of the Foundation’s Directors be appointed by the NAMA Board of Directors,” said Geerdes. “These leaders will help us support the wide range of initiatives, projects and programs that not only complement the work of NAMA, but also advance our industry in ways over and above what NAMA alone can accomplish,” he added.
