NAMA National Automatic Merchandising Association
21 MEMBERS NOW BELONG TO
WORLDWIDE VENDING ASSOCIATION:
|
Group Represents 20,000 in 21 Countries To Tackle Decisions That Impact the Vending Industry
Chicago, IL— The Worldwide Vending Association (WVA) today represents 21 countries and is becoming a recognized expert around the world on a variety of issues ranging from coinage to health and wellness, NAMA President and CEO Richard M. Geerdes NCE and a founding member of WVA announced today. WVA was created in 2006 by the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) and the European Vending Association (EVA) to represent the international vending industry in decisions made worldwide that impact them every day.
In discussing the work of the WVA Geerdes said “The bottom line is that whether you are in Italy, France or Canada, chances are you’re concerned about the same issues. Around the world more and more leaders in our industry are realizing that we are all facing the same questions and problems and are joining the WVA to share experiences. Together we can collect insights from everyone to find the best solutions that help push the industry forward everywhere.”
Some of the issues the WVA follows include coinage and banknote validation; health and wellness; food labeling and refrigerant gases. In addition, the organization has already established itself as the expert resource to be consulted on a variety of issues.
Said WVA CEO Catherine Piana, EVA’s Director-General, “In its very short existence the WVA has already succeeded in making itself known and accepted as banknote designers and printers by the worldwide minting and banking communities. The group is regularly consulted by worldwide mints when new coins are being developed,” she added.
WVA is also the vending contact for the World Health Organization where debates on diet, physical activity and health take place. The vending industry agrees that the issue of skyrocketing obesity is a very serious one, and its flexible delivery outlet provides a wide array of products that can be part of a healthy lifestyle.
Current full members of WVA are the Brazilian Vending Association (ABVA), Canadian Automatic Merchandising Association (CAMA), EVA (representing 18 European countries) and NAMA (USA). Supportive members include SICPA, Switzerland; Thales e-Transactions, Germany; and MEI, United Kingdom.
WVA which has its registered office in Brussels consists of full and supportive members. Full members include the founding members as well as any vending association from any region or country whose members are primarily active in the vending industry. Supportive members include any corporations with activities in vending: machine and component manufacturers; ingredients, commodities and disposable product suppliers; or operators of vending machines.
Concluded Geerdes, “With the support of the vending community worldwide, WVA can have a say in matters such as coinage and banknote design, health and wellbeing and the environment. More and more companies have expressed their support for WVA, and we look forward to welcoming them.”

NAMA is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries including on-site, commissary, catering, & mobile. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic merchandising and coffee service industries, still guides NAMA today as it did in 1936, the year of the organization’s founding.
