CHICAGO, IL – Producers from The Food Network’s popular show “The Secret Life Of” have confirmed that the episode on vending will air May 21st at 10:00 pm., National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) President and CEO Richard M. Geerdes, NCE, announced today. The Food Network airs some of the most popular programs on television today and reaches approximately 85 million households.

At the 2006 National Expo a team of network producers spent the day taping footage that will make up a substantial portion of the episode. In addition to the Expo, producers who edited the show said that it will include a segment on the history of vending as well as interesting vending machines in other countries. The episode also covers a wide array of ‘better for you’ products currently available in vending machines.

In discussing the episode Geerdes said, “When this episode airs on the Food Network it will help change the way that people view our industry. Most people have no idea that a vending machine can dispense more that simple snacks, and this episode of ‘The Secret Life Of” will show viewers the convenience our industry delivers to help make people’s lives easier. This feature on our industry will reach almost a hundred million viewers who will see a new side to vending.”

Distributed to more than 85 million U.S. households and five million website users, Food Network ranks first among ad-supported cable networks on year-to year subscriber growth and first among food websites. Food Network (www.foodnetwork.com) is a unique lifestyle network and website that strives to surprise and engage its viewers with likable hosts, personalities, and the variety of things they do with food.

Concluded Geerdes, “People need to understand that our industry delivers the freshest products possible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and this show will help convey those messages. Be sure to tune in for what promises to be an interesting and valuable episode of “The Secret Life Of.”

NAMA is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries including on-site, commissary, catering, & mobile. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic merchandising and coffee service industries, still guides NAMA today as it did in 1936, the year of the organization’s founding.
