NAMA’s Dan Mathews, NCE
Promoted to Executive Vice President
Promotion Recognizes His Accomplishments
And Service to the Industry
Chicago, IL – Dan Mathews, NCE, formerly Sr. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) has been promoted to Executive Vice President, NAMA President and CEO Richard M. Geerdes, NCE announced today. The promotion is effective immediately.
In making the announcement Geerdes said, “The general business environment and our industry in particular has changed a great deal in recent years. Not only have we all seen those changes but we can expect the pace to continue to accelerate. Part of our role at NAMA is to position the association to influence changes in a positive direction for the industry, so the time has come to renew that process within NAMA.”
“Today I am announcing that effective immediately, Dan Mathews, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NAMA, is being promoted to the position of Executive Vice President. In addition, Dan’s duties and scope as COO are being expanded to encompass all functional areas. The exception will be the financial function which will continue to report to me directly.”
Before joining NAMA, Dan served as Area President for Aramark Uniform Services and Area Vice President, Business & Corporate Dining Services Group, both Divisions of ARAMARK Corporation. He has also worked as Corporate Food Service Administrator for Chrysler Corporation, and held a partnership position in a private restaurant/catering company. Throughout his career he has consistently been recognized for his ability to develop people, and is dedicated to helping organizations and individuals achieve more of their goals more often. In addition to his work with NAMA, Mathews also maintains an ownership interest in Vision Quest, a customer service and personal leadership training/consulting service.
Mathews is a graduate of the Michigan State University School of Hospitality Business. He also attended the Stanford Advance Management College, the “Leadership Development Program” at the Center for Creative Leadership, the Columbia Business School "Sales Management Forum” and the Executive Leadership Institute of ARAMARK Corporation.
Dan is a member of The Foundation of NAMA Board of Directors, served 6 years on The Eli Broad College of Business Alumni Association Board of Directors and is Chairperson Emeritus of The School of Hospitality Business Alumni Association Executive Board of Directors at Michigan State University. Dan was inducted into The School of Hospitality Business “Wall of Fame” at Michigan State University in 2001.
Concluded Geerdes, “Dan’s rich background of leadership experience in our industry has shown him to be an individual of great passion, commitment and integrity, qualities that have shown through in his rich palate of accomplishments and success at NAMA. I will continue to rely on his strategic vision and leadership as together we re-shape NAMA for future we are striving hard to create.”
NAMA is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries including on-site, commissary, catering, & mobile. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic merchandising and coffee service industries, still guides NAMA today as it did in 1936, the year of the organization’s founding.
