Smuschkowitz Resigns NBVA

Chicago, IL - Concord Confections, Inc. of Concord, Ontario, Canada has been sold to Tootsie Roll, a Chicago based candy company. As a result of the sale, NBVA Vice President Howard Smuschkowitz and Director Bruce Weiner resigned, effectively immediately.

Concord Confections has been an outstanding and very supportive member of the Association, having participated in each convention for at least 15 years. According to President Frank LaVecchia, Jr., “we cheer their meteoric success, but we will miss the sage counsel and advice that Howard, Bruce and Serge Nussbaum provided to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. Their experience and wisdom was an enormous help to the Association. We expect that Tootsie Roll will continue to aggressively support the Association.”
