NSM BREAKS 50-YEAR SALES RECORD WITH NEW ICON JUKEBOX

Operators Enthusiastically Embrace Efficient New Design

Chicago, IL – NSM Music Group Limited, the coin-op amusement industry’s new digital jukebox value leader, revealed that they have received hundreds of orders for Icon, their new wall mount jukebox, since it debuted at the Las Vegas AMOA expo only four weeks ago. Initial show sales figures break all previous records for the 50-year-old company, indicating the overwhelmingly positive response of operators to the combination of breakthrough design and price point.

The Icon celebrates the company’s 50th anniversary and also marks a strategic shift in engineering philosophy for the company. Built to be “lean, mean, affordable and reliable,” the Icon hits the mark, offering operators unprecedented ease of installation and all around efficiency.

“The Icon is phenomenal! It looks like an iPod that hangs on the wall,” said Dave Cadiux, Arcade Amusement, Oaklawn, Illinois. “It’s so light; I only need one guy to do an install. And with the Ecast Easy Connect wireless broadband, we’re talking about one hour to do a complete install from the time the Icon’s off the truck to when it’s downloading music!”

The NSM Icon integrates entirely new hardware components as well as the new Ecast MoJO™ core for delivery of the broadband network and touchscreen interface. Incorporating a generous 19-inch screen and attractive anodized metal faceplate in a variety of colors, the Icon is only eight inches deep and weighs in at a mere 60 pounds. New dual 600-watt amplifiers provide true 1200-watt RMS power and are independently powered for enhanced reliability. The Icon is also the first jukebox to incorporate the new Mars combination bill accepter with credit card bezel.

The ECast MoJO™ core was instrumental in facilitating NSM’s design goals for lean, mean efficiency, providing reliability that lowers service and overhead costs. MoJO utilizes a laptop hard drive, which is much smaller and more rugged than conventional desktop drives. Containing the LCD monitor and touchscreen interface to the Ecast broadband music network, the compact unit also provides support for built-in Easy Connect wireless broadband and an expansion slot to upgrade to the Ecast Video Juke. This cost- and labor-efficient reference design allowed NSM to leverage Ecast’s hi-tech expertise without compromising quality and pass the savings onto customers.

“With the Icon, NSM has brought jukebox design fully into the 21st century,” said Bob Cooney, vice president of manufacturing business development, Ecast. “By taking its design cues from current consumer digital music players, this is the first jukebox that would look just as good in a bar as it would in a high-end nightclub or hip lounge. The Icon will help operators expand their routes by opening access to new locations that want to participate in the digital music revolution, but were resistant to the aesthetic of an old-school jukebox.”

“We’re getting calls from all around the country with customers placing orders and telling us how much they loved what they saw at the show,” said Geno Giuntoli, national sales manager, NSM. “I could not be happier with the response to the Icon. As a company, we reinvented ourselves and it’s paying off. We’re on target for continued success in 2007 and beyond.”
