Pinball design is very complex. Melrose Park, IL – A busload of attendees of the ASI Show (Amusement Showcase International) toured Stern Pinball’s factory in Melrose Park, IL on the Wednesday before the show. Gary Stern and several members of Stern’s staff showed the attendees around the 40,000 sq. ft. factory and explained the process involved in developing and manufacturing the new WORLD POKER TOUR® pinball machine.
From cable production to the building of a playfield to seeing how Stern’s mechanical engineers design and test all major mechanical assemblies using 3-D computer technology, the attendees received a very thorough look into the making of pinball machines. “Pinball design is very complex. There are 3,500 parts in a pinball, plus 1/2 mile of wire and more labor man hours than in a Ford Taurus made near our factory,” says Gary Stern. "We are very proud of our work and appreciate the opportunity to show others in our industry how we do it.”
The ASI show is held from March 16 to March 18 in Chicago, IL at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Attended predominantly by coin-op manufacturers, distributors, and operators, ASI is a perfect venue to learn and play new games. Stern featured the WORLD POKER TOUR® pinball machine as well as its new coin roll down redemption game, THE SIMPSONS™/KOOKY CARNIVAL. Stern also showed THE SOPRANOS™ and NASCAR®, which are being run in limited quantities this month. Stern is also running THE LORD OF THE RINGS™ in limited quantity in April and MONOPOLY® pinball in the upcoming months. March 27, 2006 |
