TOUCHTUNES UNVEILS NEW DIGITAL
JUKEBOX SOFTWARE
AT ASI SHOW
|
GEN III OPERATING SYSTEM DESIGNED
TO GENERATE GREATER REVENUE
AND PRODUCTIVITY
Public Web Site Will Let Patrons Create
Personal Play Lists for Jukebox Use
Industry Pioneer Gets Awards,
Gives Prizes at Chicago Expo
LAKE ZURICH, Ill., — In the course of receiving several industry awards and awarding prizes of its own to visitors at the Amusement Showcase International Show in Chicago, digital-downloading jukebox leader TouchTunes Music Corporation unveiled its new operating system software, called Gen III, in preview demonstrations at its exhibit booth.
“Based on input from our operator advisory council, we've developed innovative new features to excite the general public, generate more jukebox revenue, and also simplify the lives of our operators,” said Dan McAllister, TouchTunes vice president for sales and marketing.
The initial version, scheduled for release around mid-year, is designed specifically for TouchTunes broadband-enabled jukeboxes, the company said. A version for dial-up connected jukeboxes will follow.
The Gen III system software for broadband will tie in to a new consumer Web site designed to draw patrons to TouchTunes jukebox locations. The public site MyTouchTunes.com will allow anyone to create and save personal play lists that can be downloaded and used on any TouchTunes broadband-enabled jukebox running the Gen III software.
“This will forge a new link between patrons and operators’ locations, fostering customer loyalty and building relationships that will stimulate more business at the jukebox,” said Dominique Dion, TouchTunes vice president for research and development. McAllister added: “Once you've created a play list, it’s just human nature to want to try it out and have your friends hear your favorite songs.”
TouchTunes will launch a public awareness campaign for MyTouchTunes.com as soon as the Web site is launched and operators have had the opportunity to deploy the Gen III software.
Additional Gen III revenue enhancement features include, among others:
· Dual English-Spanish language support. A push-button icon on the touch-screen monitor will let patrons switch from English to Spanish on-screen instructions and vice-versa.
· Improved music search and sort functions to make it easier for patrons to find songs, albums, artists, musical genres, and music related to holidays and special events.
New operator-productivity features include:
· Hard-drive content “morphing.” This allows an operator to quickly and easily download and recreate a jukebox’s music content on a blank, replacement hard drive.
· Enhanced bookkeeping module. A new automated feature lets operators enter a formula for calculating the coin-box split with each location.
Giving and Receiving at ASI
Operator Lou Miele of L & M Music, Inc., Williamsport, Pa., won the booth raffle for a TouchTunes Allegro jukebox, the new floor model with a smaller footprint and bigger visual personality. Operators received a raffle ticket for each jukebox ordered at the show.
Corky Simmons, general manager of Automatic Music, Concord, Ohio, won the raffle for a Bose Wave radio. (TouchTunes uses Bose audio systems.) The contest was open to any TouchTunes operator who submitted a written product testimonial at the show booth.
Andrew Brower, son of operators Mike and Dawn Brower of Merlin Amusements, Lakeland, Fla., drew the winning raffle tickets. Coincidentally, his parents won a TouchTunes jukebox at the company’s drawing at the 2005 AMOA show.
TouchTunes hosted customers at a private pre-show cocktail reception at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The company also helped underwrite the show’s opening night Operators Cocktail Party.
TouchTunes collected three industry awards at the show: It was named Manufacturer of the Year (for 2005) by the American Amusement Manufacturers Association (AAMA). It won an AAMA Sales Achievement Award for 2005 for sales of its floor- model and wall-mount jukeboxes. And it won AAMA’s Best Exhibit Design award for a mid-size exhibit at the Chicago show.
The company also received Play Meter magazine’s Operators’ Choice award for Best Jukebox (2005), based on the magazine’s annual readers poll.
