LAKE ZURICH, Ill., May 10, 2007 — TouchTunes Music Corporation has appointed American Vending Sales as its distributor for much of Illinois, including the Chicago metropolitan area and neighboring northwest Indiana.
"TouchTunes is clearly the No. 1 choice of operators across the country," said Vince Gumma, president of American Vending Sales (AVS). "There's a reason why TouchTunes digital jukeboxes can be found in 25,000 locations, and nobody else is even close. With their newest technology, they’re going to put even more distance between themselves and the others.”
Based in a 65,000 square-foot facility in Elk Grove Village, Ill., near O'Hare International Airport, AVS employs nearly 100 people. The company has been an amusements and music distributor for 35 years.
"They are the premier distributor in the territory, and we're delighted to have them on our side," said Dan McAllister, TouchTunes senior vice president for sales and marketing.
Among other assets that AVS brings to the relationship, McAllister cited the distributor’s operator education and training programs, held in its own training facility, and its topflight parts and service operations.
In the absence of a suitable distributor, TouchTunes had been covering the territory directly from its national sales and service headquarters in Lake Zurich, Ill.
TouchTunes’ Illinois operator sales team of Tad Mauro, Illinois sales manager; Pat McMullan, Illinois sales and service representative; and Kathy Pelot, senior inside sales representative, will be working in tandem with their counterparts at AVS, McAllister said.
“Tad, Pat, and Kathy have done an incredible job, boosting our sales in the region by 50 percent,” McAllister said. “Add the resources of AVS, and the stage is set for tremendous growth for TouchTunes in this market.
“It’s been our goal to bring in a distributor, because of the genuine value they add in terms of sales and customer service,” McAllister said. “We believe in the distribution channel and are committed to it.”
AVS teamed with TouchTunes after declining to renew its distribution agreements with another digital jukebox supplier, whose terms severely restricted AVS’s ability to offer competing products, Gumma said.
In a letter to his operators, Gumma expressed his opinion that customers should have “the opportunity to see and evaluate . . . products that might better fit their needs or offer a higher return on investment.”
